Good news for Tullynessle and Forbes Hall!! The Board of Trustees has been fundraising to undertake an ambitious re-imagining of its energy potential through a transformative net zero project which will positively impact both the local and wider community. Following an assessment by Business Energy Scotland, the Board of Trustees determined that the suggested improvements would greatly enhance the future viability of the hall.
The cost of the project is close to £66,000 to install LED Lighting, roof insulation, Solar PV array, and battery storage. In October 2024 the Board managed to complete its funding target due to an award funded by Vattenfall Unlock our Future Fund, administered by Foundation Scotland.
Together with generous support from Local Energy Scotland, who delivers the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES), Marr Area Partnership, The MacRobert Trust, HDH Wills and the Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation – the funding target has been accomplished, and works are anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.
This is truly a transformative project which has been driven by the dedicated Board of Trustees, supported by the committee and the community. It’s nice to have a good news story which benefits such a dispersed rural community who depend on the hall for activities, events, gatherings and much more besides.
Thank you to everyone for your support!
